DCOA has scored an "A+" in customer
service for the month of March. This is the highest score that can be received
by an agency through Grade.dc.gov. The average grade for all participating
District government agencies reached its highest all-time mark this month, with
an “A-minus” grade. Persons interested in giving feedback to agencies on
customer service and service delivery can visit www.grade.dc.gov. To find out more about DCOA

"Think
Healthy, Eat Healthy, Act Healthy... Be Healthy!" was the winning
theme chosen from more than 1,000 entries submitted by older adults across
the country for the 2013 National Senior Health and Fitness Day Theme
Contest.
The winning entry was submitted by Ward One
resident Clarence "Buddy" Moore. Buddy was presented with a
plaque, cash prize, and T-shirt bearing the winning theme. He is an
active member of the Bernice Fonteneau Senior Wellness Center, where
he chairs the Outreach Committee, is coordinator of the Memoir Writing
Workshops and is a member of the bowling and basketball teams and the walking
club. Congratulations Buddy!

The DC Department of Human Resources (DCHR)
has closed several positions but has one remaining position open for the DC
Office on Aging, Age-Friendly City Program Coordinator. To apply

The application submission deadline is April
19 at 4:45 pm EDT for the RFA released to operate the Washington Elderly
Handicapped Transportation Service (WEHTS). WEHTS provides quality curb-to-curb
service for District residents 60 years of age and older to essential medical
and life sustaining appointments. Operations also include transportation
to sites and activities, the Call-N-Ride taxicab voucher program and Home
Delivered Meal (HDM) Program. Federal and District of Columbia
appropriated funds are available for a single or collaborative applicant
organization to operate one or up to four transportation services. The RFA is
available on the Office on Aging’s website, www.dcoa.dc.gov and on the Office of
Partnerships and Grant Services’ website, www.opgd.dc.gov. No late applications
