Critical Missing Person Alert

William Watson

The DC Metropolitan Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a critical missing person identified as 75-year-old William Watson. He was last seen Tuesday, March 26, 2013, in the 500 block of 34th Street, NE. Mr. Watson is described as a medium-complexioned male who is 6’0”–6’1” tall and weighs approximately 170–175 pounds, with a slight beard. He was last seen wearing black jeans, a black shirt, and a light windbreaker. He may require medical attention.

If anyone has information on this missing person you may contact MPD at 202-727-9099.  Please share this information with others so that we may locate him and bring him safely home.


WAMU 88.5 FM Tackles Elder Abuse

Executive Director John M. Thompson, Ph.D., FAAMA and Cheryl Taylor, program analyst, were interviewed for a week long series WAMU 88.5 FM is featuring on elder abuse. The series will run during the week of May 6. Dr. Thompson discussed elder abuse signs, the implications on the population and the cases that have been received and investigated by Adult Protective Services.  Ms. Taylor discussed the role of the Adult Abuse Prevention Committee in awareness, education and training for the general public and professionals.  If you suspect that an individual is the victim of abuse, call 202-541-3950 to report it. DCOA On WYCB Senior Corner

Thompson WYCB Senior Corner

Senior Corner, which is heard weekly on WYCB 1340 AM featured Executive Director John M. Thompson as a guest this week.  Dr. Thompson discussed DCOA funded programs and services, the implications of the Sequestration, the Age-Friendly City Initiative, senior villages, the Senior Symposium and more. Listen weekly to Senior Corner on Mondays beginning at 10 am.


WOL Show to Interview DCOA Executive Director

Executive Director John M. Thompson will be a guest on The Sight and Vision Disability Show on WOL 1450 AM, Friday, April 5 beginning at 11:30 am. Tune in as he discusses DCOA services and resources.
