DC’s inaugural medical cannabis sales tax holiday, running Friday, April 15-Sunday, April 24, 2022, is in full swing.
During the 10-day sales tax holiday, the six (6) percent sales tax is waived on medical cannabis products, excluding paraphernalia, purchased from all of DC’s seven (7) licensed dispensaries
DC residents interested in taking advantage of the sales tax holiday may enroll or renew their registrations at no cost through April 24. All registrations are valid for two (2) years from the date of issuance.
The quickest way to enroll or renew is by taking advantage of walk-in registration available Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Applicants who submit complete applications will receive their digital and physical registration during their visit.
Walk-in registration is available at ABRA’s office inside the Reeves Center located at 2000 14th Street NW, Suite 102A (First Floor), Washington, DC 20009. Walk-in registrations can be further expedited by submitting applications online prior to arriving or bringing a completed physical copy with documents.
Please also note that applicants 65 years of age or older may also self-certify that they will only use cannabis purchased from a DC dispensary for medical purposes in lieu of securing a recommendation from their healthcare provider.
