ADDITIONAL ACCOMMODATIONS

To further assist patients who have not been able to renew their lapsed registration, licensed DC dispensaries are now authorized to sell medical cannabis whose registrations expired or expires between March 1, 2020-January 31, 2022 that have obtained a new recommendation from their healthcare practitioner.

Specifically, licensed dispensaries may now sell medical cannabis to patients whose registration expired or expires between March 1, 2020-January 31, 2022 if they present the licensed dispensary with 1) a new recommendation from an eligible healthcare practitioner, 2) a copy of their expired registration, and 3) government-issued photo identification.

Licensed dispensaries may rely on copies of expired registrations and government issued photo identification that they already have on file. Sales may only occur for up to 30-days from the date of issuance of the new recommendation. Qualifying patients are expected to apply for and obtain their renewal registration card from ABRA prior to the end of the 30-day period.
