Alzheimers

Ongoing Discussion About Alzheimer's

-by Debra Bianchi MPH, Outreach Coordinator - VISTA Program, Northeast Colorado, Alzheimer's Association Colorado Chapter

Over 5 million Americans, including 69,000 Coloradoans, are currently living with Alzheimer’s Disease; and this number is expected to triple by 2050. Addressing the needs of persons living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias, as well as their caregivers, is a primary focus of the Alzheimer’s Association.

To respond to the needs of those affected in our community, we are working with our faith leaders to establish the Alzheimer’s Association Faith Community Alliance, and we invite you to join us. Through this innovative collaborative, we hope to create a formal network of faith leaders who are working with the Alzheimer’s Association to promote brain health, awareness and education, and support for those affected by the disease within their faith communities. We offer an array of services, all at no cost, that you may use to serve members of your community.

Please review our Faith Community Alliance Toolkit, then give us a call. We look forward to partnering with you in a joint effort to support those who are living with dementia and their caregivers.

The impact of addiction to opioids, meth and other drugs sweeping our nation are escalating conversations and amplifying calls to action shift perceptions about addiction and recovery. This complex issue requires conversations that help communities address the myths surrounding addiction and recovery.
