Summit County Towns invite residents to help with spring cleaning
Town Cleanup Day is on Saturday, May 31, 2025
Summit County, Colorado – As the snow recedes, a season’s worth of lost mittens, abandoned dog poop bags and misplaced treasures reveal themselves, making spring cleaning a necessity. The Towns of Blue River, Breckenridge, Dillon, Keystone, Frisco and Silverthorne are calling all volunteers to help Summit County prepare for summer with the Annual Countywide Town Cleanup Day, on Saturday, May 31, 2025.
Volunteer check-in will be at 9 a.m. in each town. In Blue River, volunteers are encouraged to pick up trash bags at Town Hall the week prior; Breckenridge volunteers are asked to gather at the Riverwalk Center; Frisco volunteers will start at the Frisco Historic Park; Dillon’s Town Hall will serve as the town’s volunteer check-in location, volunteers in Keystone are asked to meet at 1628 Sts. John Road, and in Silverthorne the day will begin at Rainbow Park. During check-in, volunteers will receive trash bags, gloves, area assignments, coffee and morning treats. Volunteers may also choose to pick a favorite area they feel needs attention, rather than receiving an assigned area. After a morning of spring cleaning, volunteers will be rewarded for their efforts with a zero waste “thank you” picnic at each town’s check-in location. Bring your own coffee mug and water bottle to help further our zero waste efforts.
Summit County Resource Allocation Park (SCRAP) and High Country Conservation Center (HC3) work in conjunction with the towns to provide support for the countywide Town Cleanup Day, and once again this year they are also helping citizens dispose of hard-to-recycle and personal items. Summit County will be hosting a free, drive-through drop-off for electronics, textiles, pharmaceuticals and household hazardous wastes on Saturday, May 31 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Summit Stage Bus Barn, 0222 County Shops Road, next to the County Commons in Frisco. For a list of accepted items and for additional information, please go to High Country Conservation Center’s website at HighCountryConservation.org or call (970) 668-5703.
