Public Meeting and Comment Period on Proposed Land Use Code Update Regarding Accessory Dwellings for Marshall Fire Rebuilding

Boulder County, Colo. - Boulder County Community Planning & Permitting is hosting an information session on June 16 on a proposed Land Use Code update which would allow an Accessory Dwelling to be built as part of the redevelopment of a property where the residence was destroyed by the Marshall Fire.

The Boulder County Land Use Code applies to the unincorporated portions of Boulder County, not in incorporated cities and towns.

Online Information Session: June 16

On Thursday, June 16, 2022 from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Boulder County will host an online information session. This meeting will include a presentation and overview of the proposed draft amendments for Accessory Dwellings as part of the redevelopment of a property where the residence was destroyed by the Marshall Fire (1 hour), a Q&A period (15 minutes), and next steps (15 minutes).

What: Virtual Community Meeting to review proposed changes to the Land Use Code related to Accessory Dwellings
Who: Boulder County Marshall Fire impacted residents, current and potential future area residents, and professionals working with residents to rebuild destroyed residences
When: Thursday, June 16, from 6-7:30 p.m.
Where: Virtual meeting via Zoom. Register to attend at www.boco.org/MarshallFireJune16Meeting

For those not able to attend live, the meeting will be recorded and posted online on Friday, June 17.

Public Comment Period: June 16 to 26

The public is invited to provide written comments on the draft Land Use Code text amendments from June 16-26. The proposed draft amendments will be posted on June 16. To learn more about this update to the Land Use Code visit www.boco.org/dc-22-0003.

Your comments will be part of the public record and will be considered by staff in drafting the final recommended amendment text and will be provided to the Planning Commission and Board of County Commissioners for their consideration.

Background

On May 3, 2022, the Board of County Commissioners authorized staff to pursue text amendments to the Land Use Code regarding Accessory Dwellings as part of the Marshall Fire response. A previous virtual public meeting was held on May 25, 2022 (view video recording of the meeting), and an Open House was held May 26, 2022.
