For three decades, the Tahoe Summit has united leaders, partners and communities around a common goal: protecting one of the world’s most treasured places.

In North Lake Tahoe, Placer County has proudly contributed to that effort with more than $100 million dollars contributed to lake-saving projects. Working alongside local, state and federal partners, Placer County has invested in water quality, habitat restoration, transportation, wildfire resilience and community infrastructure that strengthen both the environment and the communities that call Tahoe home.

The 30th annual Lake Tahoe Summit at Sand Harbor State Park in Nevada highlighted decades of innovation and regional collaboration, all in an effort to protect Lake Tahoe. If you missed it, the livestream is still available to watch. Or you can watch Placer's recap here: WATCH VIDEO

The challenges facing Lake Tahoe will continue to evolve, from climate change and wildfire risk to transportation, water quality and the need to balance a vibrant community with a fragile environment.

Placer County is committed to keeping Lake Tahoe clean, resilient and extraordinary for the next 30 years and beyond. LEARN MORE

K-9 Ulfr joins the North Lake Tahoe Substation

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office is excited to introduce a new K9 team serving the North Lake Tahoe region. Meet K9 Ulfr, a two-year-old German Shepherd from Slovakia and his handler, Deputy Eide.

Ulfr is certified in patrol, including apprehension, as well as narcotics detection. The pair completed months of rigorous training to earn their certifications and are now officially out working together.

When he’s off duty, Ulfr lives at home with Deputy Eide, where the two continue to build the trust and bond that make a great K9 team. And when he’s not working, you’ll usually find Ulfr playing soccer in the backyard. He was a big fan of all the World Cup excitement!

If you see Ulfr and Deputy Eide out and about, be sure to give them a wave and say hi!
