Help Shape Granite Bay’s Cycling Future: Participate in the Active Transportation Survey
May is National Bike to School Month, and it's the perfect time to envision a more bike-friendly Granite Bay. The Placer County Transportation Planning Agency (PCTPA) is developing a Countywide Active Transportation Plan (ATP) to enhance walking and biking infrastructure across the region. Granite Bay, with its compact layout, offers an ideal setting for safe and accessible trails connecting schools, parks, shops, and restaurants all within a comfortable four-mile ride.(pctpa.net)
One significant proposal under consideration is a separated trail along the Eureka Road corridor, aiming to provide a safe route for cyclists and pedestrians. Your input is crucial in bringing such projects to fruition.
How to Participate:
The survey is open until mid-June, so don't miss this opportunity to voice your ideas. Your feedback will directly influence the planning and prioritization of future projects, ensuring they align with community needs.
As part of an infrastructure upgrade, Placer County will be transitioning our SMS phone number from 468311 to a new toll-free number: 1-888-579-9803. This change will take effect on Tuesday, May 13.
Beginning that day, all wireless messages will be sent from the new toll-free number. To ensure everything is functioning properly, GovDelivery will perform a test message on May 13 following the migration.
Thank you for your attention, and please update any saved contact information accordingly.

Save The Date - Thursday June 5th Let Your Voice Be Heard on Residential Burn Day Rules
Do current residential burn regulations in Granite Bay strike the right balance between fire safety, air quality, and homeowners’ needs? Some residents say no—and now’s your chance to join the conversation.
Placer County District 4 Supervisor Suzanne Jones invites all Granite Bay residents to a special Town Hall meeting on Thursday, June 5th, at the Granite Bay Library, immediately following the regularly scheduled Granite Bay Municipal Advisory Committee (MAC) meeting, which begins at 6:00 PM.
This focused discussion will explore possible changes to residential vegetation burning rules, with representatives from the Placer County Air Pollution Control District (PCAPCD) and South Placer Fire District (SPFD) present to explain current regulations, answer questions, and hear your concerns directly.
Why This Matters
For years, Granite Bay’s residential burn schedule has been shaped by a 2003 compromise designed to address smoke-related concerns while still allowing residents to manage vegetation on their properties. Under current rules, when burn days are declared, burning is allowed only from the 1st to the 15th of each month, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM (extended to 7:00 PM in May). These guidelines, originally proposed by a citizen-led Burn Compromise Committee and endorsed by the MAC, have remained unchanged for over two decades.
However, changing weather patterns, evolving work schedules, and community growth have prompted renewed interest in whether these rules still serve Granite Bay’s best interests. Common concerns include:
-
Limited weekend burn opportunities
-
Inability to burn in the evenings after work
-
Difficulty coordinating burns with variable weather and air quality conditions
A Chance to Reevaluate Together
The upcoming Town Hall is not just a public hearing—it’s your opportunity to shape the future of local policy. Your input will help determine whether modifications to the current burn schedule should be formally considered by county staff and advisory bodies.
Supervisor Jones encourages all residents—whether you’ve struggled with the burn restrictions or appreciate the current protections—to attend and speak. A healthy and respectful dialogue is vital to crafting solutions that reflect Granite Bay’s diverse priorities: safety, health, property management, and quality of life.
📍 Town Hall Details Date: Thursday, June 5th Time: Immediately after the Granite Bay MAC meeting (MAC starts at 6:00 PM) Location: Granite Bay Library, 6475 Douglas Blvd, Granite Bay
