Hopkins Village, the newly constructed, for-sale housing development located in Martis Valley, has multiple units for sale for local workers in the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District boundary. Placer County took another step toward alleviating traffic congestion in North Lake Tahoe last week, announcing an agreement with Palisades Tahoe to provide back-up enforcement of the resort’s new parking reservation program.
The county also plans to launch the initial phase of the North Lake Tahoe Parking Management Program in 2024. Parking management helps reduce the number of cars on the road by activating carpooling and promoting the use of free transit options. The Board of Supervisors voted unanimously last week to authorize the Placer County Department of Public Works to approve a parking enforcement agreement with Palisades Tahoe Resort. READ MORE
The county has moved forward with funding for six of its 13 regional projects in eastern Placer – designed to improve trails, transportation and workforce housing assistance.
The Placer County Board of Supervisors has authorized spending a total of $4.2 million for the projects using revenue from transient occupancy tax collected in North Lake Tahoe. By long-standing county policy, all TOT revenue collected in eastern Placer County is reinvested in eastern Placer County. The board approved TOT funding for a total of 13 investment projects during its Oct. 16 meeting. The projects are intended to advance regional goals including workforce housing and improved transportation within eastern Placer County. Building on the success of the popular engraved plaques along the Tahoe East Shore Trail, the Tahoe Fund recently announced a partnership with Placer County to install personalized bear plaques along the railings in Tahoe City’s Heritage Plaza to raise funds for trails in the Placer County region of North Lake Tahoe.
The bear plaques are available in two sizes. For $5,000, the Mama Bear plaque measures 13 inches tall by 20 inches wide and has space for a 40-45 character message. For $2,500, the Baby Bear plaque measures 8 inches tall by 12 inches wide and has space for a 20-25 character message. LEARN MORE
The Placer County Board of Supervisors on Nov. 28 approved a project proposal to place two murals along a section of the Truckee River Trail passing under the Truckee River Bridge.
Known as the Truckee River Bridge Mural Project, the proposed artwork would be located beneath the bridge on each side along the trail’s undercrossings, visible to those using the trail or river. The project proposal was brought forward by the nonprofit Fox Cultural Hall, formerly Arts For The Schools, which has served the North Lake Tahoe region for nearly 40 years. READ MORE
