Placer County continues to expand and enhance parking management within North Lake Tahoe

Placer County took another step toward alleviating traffic congestion in North Lake Tahoe last week, announcing an agreement with Palisades Tahoe to provide back-up enforcement of the resort’s new parking reservation program.

The county also plans to launch the initial phase of the North Lake Tahoe Parking Management Program in 2024. Parking management helps reduce the number of cars on the road by activating carpooling and promoting the use of free transit options. The Board of Supervisors voted unanimously last week to authorize the Placer County Department of Public Works to approve a parking enforcement agreement with Palisades Tahoe Resort. READ MORE

The Placer County Board of Supervisors has authorized spending a total of $4.2 million for the projects using revenue from transient occupancy tax collected in North Lake Tahoe. By long-standing county policy, all TOT revenue collected in eastern Placer County is reinvested in eastern Placer County. The board approved TOT funding for a total of 13 investment projects during its Oct. 16 meeting.
