My fellow District 3 residents, it is hard to completely grasp the roller coaster ride COVID-19 has had us on for the past several months.

Through this historic pandemic the citizens of Placer County have experienced loss, uncertainty and resilience, and our communities and local government have worked together to help take care of one another during this crisis.

I want to let you know that the Placer County Board of Supervisors, department leaders and staff are pursuing every possible option to make sure that our community feels safe while maintaining our freedoms to safely pursue our liberties.

In addition to efforts by county leadership and staff to get us safely through this pandemic, our communities have also stepped up to support one another and have had a huge role in our successes so far. The actions on the part of our residents were crucial to our success in “flattening the curve” of COVID-19 in Placer County.

By flattening the curve, the Board of Supervisors and Public Health staff were able to obtain approval to open businesses in Stage 2 of the State’s Resilience Roadmap, and we are currently working toward moving into Stage 3. Although we are still awaiting response on Stage 3, we are hopeful that we will be among the first counties in the state to move safely in that direction.

In order to make the transition into later Stage 2 of the state’s COVID-19 resilience roadmap as efficient and effective as possible, we also kick-started our Economic Development Office’s Business Resource Center, launching our Reopen Placer campaign.

Reopen Placer offers a variety of tools, guidance and resources for businesses to reopen in appropriate stage of reopening as designated by the state.

These tools can help businesses adhere to proper safety guidelines in order to help protect their customers, their employees and the community.

If you are a business owner, I encourage you to visit placer.ca.gov/reopen and download free materials to help your business reopen responsibly and successfully.

I would also like to take a moment to share my gratitude for the countless essential workers who have been on the front lines of this pandemic, and to for the city and county employees who are dedicated to our communities. Your resolve is great, and I am incredibly proud of your efforts and accomplishments throughout this crisis.
