Mountain View schools are back in session! That means students will be walking and biking to school again.
As students head back to the classroom, expect increased vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic near schools throughout Mountain View. Whether you're driving, biking, or walking, stay alert, slow down, and watch for children crossing streets and using crosswalks.
Learn more about the City's Safe Routes to School program, which provides resources and information for walking and biking to schools safely in Mountain View.

Partnerships Address Housing Affordability in City |
|
|
The Mountain View Affordable Housing Fund received a boost last month. Intuit, the global financial technology company headquartered in Mountain View, is helping address the local housing affordability crisis through a $500,000 contribution to the fund.
The fund was created as a partnership between the City of Mountain View and the Los Altos Mountain View Community Foundation (LAMVCF) to support the development and preservation of affordable housing in Mountain View. The City seeded the fund with a $1 million investment; LAMVCF manages the fund and is raising private donations. The fund balance to-date is approximately $1.8 million.
The City’s work with LAMVCF is in line with the City’s 2022-27 Affordable Housing Strategy and the 2023-31 Housing Element, which identify the importance of partnerships to fund the City’s affordable housing pipeline and other City affordable housing initiatives. The City will approve all expenditures to be paid out of the fund.

California Street Pilot Community Survey |
|
|
With construction of the California Street Pilot Project complete, the project is entering the evaluation phase. City staff is collecting data, including community feedback and traffic, bicycle, and pedestrian counts. Over the next month, an extensive outreach effort will be launched to hear from the community to assess the project’s results and determine if further adjustments are needed.
Residents can provide their feedback by taking a survey in any of the following three languages:
The evaluation results will be presented to the public and the Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory Committee and Council Transportation Committee at meetings tentatively planned for late 2026 and early 2027.

Citywide Garage Sale Provides
Multi-Household Sales Options
|
|
|
Don't forget to register for the Citywide Garage Sale taking place on Saturday, Sept. 19, and Sunday, Sept. 20.
This event supports the City of Mountain View's Zero Waste goals by keeping reusable items out of the landfill and conserving natural resources.
Sellers can register for free to have their home garage sale included on the City’s official sales map and can choose to participate on one day or both days of the sale.
Multi-household sale options:
- Residents at apartment complexes or condominiums can host sales in garages or carports. Please get approval first from your property management or HOA, especially if you want to host a sale in your unit or in a common area.
- Another option for residents in apartments is registering with a friend or neighbor who has a driveway or lawn.
- If you and your neighbor(s) don’t have enough items for a sale at each of your homes, consider combining them at one location and registering as a multi-household sale.
- Get permission from the principal/owner of a parking lot at your school or work, and hold a multi-family sale, Trunk-or-Treat style.
