Mountain View City Council to Consider Budget Adoption Next Week |
At the Tuesday, June 23, meeting, the Mountain View City Council will consider formal adoption of the Fiscal Year 2026-27 Recommended Budget. The Council will also consider approving funding for the Recommended Fiscal Year 2026-27 Capital Improvement Program.
The City’s Recommended Budget is structurally balanced and continues to allocate resources toward long-term service delivery, core Citywide functions, Council Strategic Priority areas, continuous organizational improvement efforts, and innovative programs important to the Mountain View community. Even so, significant economic uncertainty remains. The City continues to exercise financial prudence while planning for the Mountain View of tomorrow.
The new budget year will begin on July 1 and run through June 30, 2027. For more details, view the FY 2026-27 Recommended Budget.

Biodiversity and Urban Forest Plan |
After years of planning, public outreach, and collaboration, the final draft of the Biodiversity and Urban Forest Plan is going to City Council for adoption on Tuesday, June 23. The Plan is a comprehensive, science-based roadmap to help protect, enhance, and manage the City’s urban forest, natural habitats, and biodiversity while supporting climate resilience, public health, and community well-being.
Developed through extensive community engagement, technical analysis, interdepartmental coordination, and Parks and Recreation Commission review, the Plan establishes a long-term framework to guide future City projects, programs, policies, and investments related to trees, vegetation, wildlife, and ecological health throughout Mountain View.
The Plan includes recommendations related to expanding and preserving tree canopy, increasing biodiversity-supportive landscaping, strengthening climate resilience, improving habitat connectivity, and integrating green infrastructure into future City projects and planning efforts. Early implementation efforts will also include the development of a web-based Tree Selector Tool to help identify appropriate tree species for sites throughout the community.
The Plan builds on Mountain View’s broader sustainability goals and positions the City as a regional leader in integrated biodiversity and urban forest planning.
