City to Observe March 31 as California State Holiday |
|
|
The City of Mountain View is observing Tuesday, March 31, as a California state holiday honoring the legacy and contributions of farmworkers. Most City facilities, including City Hall, will be closed on this day.
This change comes in the wake of serious sexual abuse allegations against late labor leader César Chavez who the holiday was originally named after.
Like other government agencies, the City is figuring out the path forward as the state’s legislative leaders seek to rename the holiday as Farmworkers Day.
Although administrative offices will be closed on March 31, emergency services will continue. Call 9-1-1 if you have an emergency.
