Celebrating Women's History Month in Mountain View |
|
|
The Mountain View City Council proclaimed March 2026 as National Women's History Month. The proclamation says, in part, that it’s “a time to honor the remarkable contributions of women throughout history and in contemporary society.”
Celebrate Women's History Month with the Mountain View Public Library by attending special programs and borrowing books and media that highlight the achievements, stories, and enduring impact of women across cultures and generations.
The programming includes a Thursday, April 2 session with emerita curator at the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum and human spaceflight expert Valerie Neal. Neal will discuss the compelling history of U.S. women astronauts. Her book On a Mission: The Smithsonian History of U.S. Women Astronauts spans 45 years and 61 astronauts, sharing the stories of women who advanced the field of space exploration and expanded opportunities in a traditionally male-dominated profession.
Residents are invited to explore Women’s History Month displays on the second floor and in the Children’s Room, and to visit the Library's website for curated booklists and media recommendations for readers of all ages.
