Grand Opening for Downtown Mountain View's
First Retail Pop-up Shop

A grand opening for Downtown Mountain View’s first retail pop-up shop is scheduled for the first Saturday in February.
Saturday, Feb. 7 1:00 - 8:00 p.m. 293 Castro St.
MOMENT Mountain View is participating in the City of Mountain View’s one-year retail pop-up program, which is designed to activate a vacant Downtown storefront.
In collaboration with MOMENT, the pop-up shop is opening under the shared retail banner of “Don’t Eat Me.” The pop-up features four creative small businesses and opened with limited weekly operating hours following a soft launch in December 2025.

Applications Open for Chinese Language
Civic Leadership Academy

Spots are still available for the City of Mountain View's third Chinese Language Civic Leadership Academy in March 2026. The Chinese Leadership Academy is a free, eight-week-long program for Chinese-speaking Mountain View residents. The program is designed to improve participants’ understanding of local government and City services.
Through the program, participants are encouraged to increase their civic engagement, leadership, and volunteerism in the community. The Academy also prepares individuals to serve on City Council advisory bodies and committees.
Academy applications (available in English and Chinese) are due by Friday, Feb. 20.

This multicultural event will showcase traditional performances, hands-on crafts, engaging games, community booths, and a diverse array of delicious cuisine from food trucks.
The 2026 Fire Horse Year represents renewal, strength, and forward momentum, and is viewed as a high-energy, transformative year that rewards courage, action, and adaptability. Come together with neighbors and friends to honor tradition while creating new memories.

City Receives GFAO Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for 33rd Time |

The City of Mountain View has once again been recognized for excellence in financial planning and transparency, receiving the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its Fiscal Year 2025-26 Adopted Budget. This marks the 33rd time the City has earned this prestigious national recognition.
The Distinguished Budget Presentation Award is the highest honor in governmental budgeting and is awarded to public agencies that go beyond basic statutory requirements to produce a budget that serves as a comprehensive policy document, financial plan, operations guide, and communications tool for the public.
GFOA is a nonprofit professional association that advances excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development, resources, and practical research to more than 30,000 members and the communities they serve throughout the United States and Canada.

Join the City of Mountain View for an evening celebrating The Art of Code Switching, a compelling exhibition by artist Don Hershman at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts.

This special event will feature light refreshments and a moderated discussion exploring the themes behind the exhibition. Hershman's work invites reflection on lived experience and the nuanced act of adapting one’s voice, behavior, or expression across different environments.
Guests will have the opportunity to hear the artist speak directly about his creative process and to view the exhibition in a relaxed, social setting. Hosted in collaboration with the City of Mountain View Downtown, Visual Arts, and Performing Arts committees.
