The new Ameswell Pedestrian Bridge brings increased access to Stevens Creek Trail in Mountain View.
On Monday, Nov. 3, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held for the official opening of the pedestrian and bicyclist bridge over Stevens Creek, connecting the Stevens Creek Trail to Moffett Boulevard through the Ameswell development site. The ceremony was well-attended by representatives of the pedestrian and bicycling community, City Council, bridge design team, developer, general public, and City of Mountain View staff.
The City initiated the vision for a new bridge connection in the early 2000s. The opening of the bridge is a result of a collaboration between the City, which acquired the parcel in 2009, and Broadreach Capital Partners, which developed the site.
Broadreach developed the parcel into an office building, parking garage, and The Ameswell Hotel, and constructed the bridge as part of the project without any cost to taxpayers.

Día de Muertos Celebrates Vibrant Culture |
|
|
On Saturday, Nov. 1, the community came together to celebrate Día de Muertos at the Mountain View Civic Center Plaza, which was adorned with colorful and elaborately decorated ofrendas. These ofrendas serve as a celebration of memories, encouraging attendees to remember rather than forget.
This year, 26 ofrendas were hosted by community members, local schools, nonprofit organizations, and local government. A lowrider group added a unique touch to the festivities, which attracted approximately 2,000 attendees throughout the day.
The event also featured live performances that showcased the diverse cultures within Mountain View. Attendees enjoyed Aztec dances, ballet folklórico representing various regions of Mexico and Venezuela, and a sing-along with a mariachi group. The celebration also highlighted afro-Indigenous Colombian music, emphasizing burial traditions. To conclude the event, an ensemble performed traditional rhymes from the Caribbean and Latin America.
It was a joyful day filled with color and music, embodying Mountain View's priority to be a “Community for All” that fosters a sense of belonging.
