Mountain View to Host First State of the City |

The City of Mountain View's first State of the City is a free civic event open to the public and is being held tonight:
Wednesday, May 21 5 - 7 p.m. Mountain View Community Center, 201 S. Rengstorff Ave.
With a theme of “Building the Mountain View of Tomorrow,” the event will showcase recent City accomplishments and initiatives that advance the City’s strategic priorities. Mayor Ellen Kamei and City Manager Kimbra McCarthy will share updates on the City’s financial outlook, efforts to advance housing, sustainability, and active transportation; and actions that support Mountain View's commitment to be a “Community for All.”
Tips for attendees: Limited parking is available at the Mountain View Community Center off S. Rengstorff Avenue and Senior Center off Escuela Avenue. Plan ahead and give yourself extra time to park. The left-turn lane into the Community Center will be closed to incoming traffic. Attendees are encouraged to walk, bike, carpool, or use public transit.
The State of the City will be streamed live on the City’s YouTube channel, YouTube.com/MountainViewGov, starting at 6:15 p.m.

The County of Santa Clara recently launched its "One County One Future" multilingual media campaign to reaffirm its support for the county’s immigrant community and connect immigrants with information and resources.
The One-County-One-Future webpage includes a list of up-to-date resources ranging from family preparedness plans to FAQs if detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) among other topics.
The City of Mountain View website includes details about this County initiative on the Immigration Resources webpage and reaffirms Mountain View's commitment to be a Community for All.

The City of Mountain View has expanded its social media presence by joining Bluesky in mid-May
The City is piloting use of the emerging social media platform to help enhance communications with community members where they seek information. Connect with the City on Bluesky by following @MountainViewGov.

Pedestrian Mall Decorative Street Treatment |

|
Installation of Downtown Mountain View's decorative street treatment along the central walkway of the Castro Street Pedestrian Mall is now complete. The “ribbons” design brings added color and a welcoming, pedestrian-friendly atmosphere to the Downtown area.
This decorative touch on the 100, 200 and 300 blocks of Castro Street can be viewed while visiting Downtown businesses and enjoying the numerous picnic tables, lounge seating, and recreational games along the Pedestrian Mall.

City of Palo Alto San Antonio Road Area Plan |

The City of Palo Alto has commenced work to prepare a new San Antonio Road Area Plan which will look at land uses, transportation and other items along the San Antonio Road corridor directly adjacent to the City of Mountain View.
The City of Palo Alto is currently accepting applications for a Community Advisory Group for the Plan and has confirmed that Mountain View residents and other stakeholders are welcome to apply.

Music on Castro continues every Wednesday as singers and songwriters perform live music on the 200 block of Castro Street. The community can come out to enjoy the free entertainment while shopping and dining Downtown.

Splash into Recreation Swim for the Summer |

Recreation Swim kicks off at the newly opened Rengstorff Park Aquatics Center for Memorial Day weekend. To celebrate the inaugural season at the new pool, the City of Mountain View will host a free community event.

The celebration will feature swimming, crafts, music, and water safety-themed coloring sheets and handouts.

Artistic Director Amy Seiwert creates a World Premiere, her 13th ballet for the Company. Trey McIntyre returns to Smuin with the Bay Area premiere of his Wild Sweet Love, an ode to the ups and downs of love set to a range of music from Mendelsohn to Queen. McIntyre’s “fertility of invention and modernity of spirit” (The New York Times) is no stranger to Smuin, and we’re delighted to add another of his ballets to our repertory. Completing the program is a pair of favorites: Michael Smuin’s Rodin-inspired The Eternal Idol, originally choreographed for American Ballet Theatre superstars Cynthia Gregory and Ivan Nagy and Smuin Alum Rex Wheeler’s spritely, springy Sinfonietta.
