On Saturday, May 17, the City of Mountain View Fire Department participated in National River Cleanup Day 2025. The Fire and Environmental Protection Division cleaned sections of the Stevens Creek Trail by removing hundreds of pounds of trash and debris from the Creek.

National River Cleanup Day is an annual event where volunteers across the country work together to clean up rivers, creeks, and other waterways to protect wildlife and preserve the natural environment. The event removes trash and debris from waterways, preventing pollution and protecting local ecosystems. In 2024, the Creek Connections Action Group reported that 953 volunteers cleaned 56 miles of Santa Clara waterways, picking up 32,874 pounds of litter from our waterways.

Visit the Creek Connections Action Group for more information and to find out ways you can support, share and participate in future events.
