City of Mountain View to Begin Next Phase of the Castro Interim Pedestrian Mall Project |

The City of Mountain View is excited to announce the next phase of the Castro Interim Pedestrian Mall project will begin on Monday, Nov. 6. Sidewalks will remain open during construction activities and there will be access to all businesses in Downtown Mountain View. Outdoor dining will be temporarily unavailable during the expected three weeks of activities.
The 100, 200 and 300 blocks of Castro Street will be upgraded to include the following enhancements:
- Pavement resurfacing;
- Intersection striping;
- Creation of a new central walkway;
- Power-washing sidewalks and parklets;
- Cleanup of City furnishings; and
- Storm drain cleaning.

Public Invited to Community Meeting Regarding El Camino Real |

Senator Josh Becker and Assemblymember Marc Berman invite the public to a community meeting with Caltrans on Tuesday, Nov. 14 for a discussion on El Camino Real (SR-82) maintenance concerns and future projects. The meeting will be held at the Mountain View Community Center, 201 S. Rengstorff Ave., from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Representatives from Caltrans—as well as City staff members from Mountain View, Los Altos and Palo Alto—will be on hand to discuss the upcoming project: Route 82 – Pavement Rehabilitation and ADA Improvements.

Continue to Explore Shoreline at Mountain View |

The Celebrate Shoreline event may be over, but that doesn't mean you should stop exploring everything that makes Shoreline at Mountain View a jewel of the community.
New interpretive signs have been installed around the park. These educational and informative signs discuss adaptations for sea-level rise, maintaining managing the open space and wildlife habitat, managing the closed landfill, balancing community enjoyment and environmental protection and more.
The community is encouraged to visit the park, get a little exercise and learn more about Shoreline's past, present and future. Take a sneak peak by visiting the Explore Shoreline webpage.

Free Confidential Paper Shredding on Saturday, Nov. 4 |

Attend the City of Mountain View's next free paper shredding event this Saturday, Nov. 4 from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the SMaRT Station, 301 Carl Road in Sunnyvale. Protect your privacy and reduce waste by securely recycling confidential papers such as bank statements, pay stubs, canceled checks and credit offers.
Please note the following:
- The line cuts off at 3 p.m. sharp. Avoid peak wait times by visiting between 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
- Limit of five bags or banker boxes per household. Small paperclips, staples, spiral notebooks and rubber-bands are acceptable.
- Remove paper from heavy binders or binder clips to prevent damage to the shredding equipment.

Community Safety and Bystander Intervention Training Thursday, Nov. 16—Participate in an interactive Bystander Intervention Training to learn how to safely intervene when you witness a hate crime or incident of bias. This program presented by the Council on American-Islamic Relations will also discuss school bullying with the goal of empowering students and parents with the tools needed to advocate for themselves in school.
Sensory Storytime Wednesday, Nov. 29—Preschool-age children with autism and/or sensory challenges are invited to a fun, interactive, educational storytime filled with books, songs, movement and adapted play to support their needs.
Power of Women in Science Fiction: Author Talk with Naomi Alderman Thursday, Nov. 30—Bestselling and award-winning author Naomi Alderman will talk about her new book The Future, where a handful of friends plot a daring heist to save the world from the tech giants whose greed threatens life as we know it.
