Elevate MV Participants Elevating their Financial Security According to Dashboard |
|
|
Retail sales and services, food and groceries: those are the primary ways in which participants in the City of Mountain View’s Elevate MV guaranteed basic income pilot program spent their unrestricted monthly cash payments of $500 to meet their basic needs. The initial spending data reflects the first six months of the pilot and is now available through the Elevate MV Data Dashboard.
The dashboard is the result of a partnership with Stanford Basic Income Lab in coordination with Mayors for a Guaranteed Income and the University of Pennsylvania Center for Guaranteed Income Research (CGIR).
The two-year Elevate MV pilot program, designed to provide vulnerable residents with more financial security, involves 166 individuals who were randomly selected meeting the following criteria: extremely low-income parent or custodial caregiver with at least one child under age 18 or pregnant at the time of program application; income eligibility at or below 30% Area Median Income, and a Mountain View resident without regard to immigration documentation and/or housing status. The participants began receiving their direct cash payment in December 2022.

City's Annual Financial Report
Receives Award Recognition
|
|
|
The City of Mountain View is pleased to announce that it received the Government Finance Officers Association’s (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2022. This is the 33rd consecutive year the City has received this prestigious award. The certificate is the GFOA’s highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and reporting.
The ACFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive spirit of disclosure to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users to read the report.
Unlike a budget that provides a plan for a future period, the ACFR illustrates the actual results of the prior fiscal year’s financial activities, such as revenues, expenditures and changes in fund balances.

City to Launch SolorAPP+ Next Month |
|
On Monday, Aug. 14, the City will officially launch SolarAPP+, an automated permit system that streamlines the process for licensed contractors to obtain a permit for single-family residential roof-mounted solar installations. These contractors can now efficiently submit all required project information and equipment specifications online without the need for traditional building plans. In return, they will receive an instant permit.
This streamlined process is expected to greatly accelerate solar adoption in Mountain View, benefiting approximately 50 homes per week. With no wait time for permit review and issuance, contractors can install solar equipment and schedule an inspection as quickly as one business day after obtaining the permit. This means faster solar installations for homeowners.
While SolarAPP+ currently focuses on single-family roof-mounted solar installations, the company has plans to expand the application in the future to include electric vehicle chargers for single-family homes and other development types, such as multifamily residential, commercial, and industrial sites.
With the launch of SolarAPP+, the City of Mountain View is taking a significant stride towards a greener and more sustainable future, while streamlining the permit process.

Mountain View Rolling Out New Green Compost Carts in August |
|
Starting in August, Mountain View residents will receive a new green compost cart to replace the old yard trimmings carts.
The carts are being replaced for several reasons, which are to:
- Comply with State-mandated green color for compost and lid educational signage.
- Replace worn out carts, most of which are over 15 years old and have exceeded their useful life.
- Achieve cost effectiveness by replacing carts in bulk.
- Provide clear, consistent messaging— avoid a mix of old/new containers and signage.
Old carts are 100% recyclable and will not be landfilled - they will be recycled or reused.
The instructions for exchanging the old carts with new ones are as follows:
- Recology will deliver your new green compost cart(s) first (the same size as what you currently have). Most households will get it the day before your service day.
- On your service day, set-out your old yard trimmings cart(s) for removal.
- Recology will remove your old cart(s) that same day.
For more information, visit MountainView.gov/Carts and for service-related questions, contact Recology at 650-967-3034 or ContactUsRMV@Recology.com.
