We recognize that timely and reliable waste collection is essential for our residents and businesses. The current disruption in service from Republic Services—stemming from a work stoppage by local drivers in solidarity with Teamster drivers striking in other U.S. cities—is understandably concerning.
The City is working with Republic Services to restore service as quickly as possible for our community. Given the uncertainty around when full service will be restored, the City is actively exploring alternate service options to support residents and businesses.
In the meantime, Fremont residents and businesses may utilize free drop-off disposal services at the Fremont Recycling and Transfer Station, located at 41149 Boyce Rd., Fremont. The facility will accept recycling, garbage and compost materials that would normally be collected by Republic Services, with proof of business/residency. The Fremont Recycling and Transfer Station is open to the public from 8:00am until 5:00pm Monday through Saturday.
For billing questions during this service disruption, residents and businesses should contact Republic Services for assistance at 510-657-3500 or visit their website.
We appreciate the community’s patience during this difficult time. We will continue to provide updates on the City's News page, Facebook and Nextdoor pages as new information becomes available. We are actively monitoring and communicating with affected businesses. Please address any questions or concerns to Lori Marra, Solid Waste Manager, at environment@fremont.gov or call 510-494-4570.
