Suspect Arrested for Possession of Child Pornography 

Matthew Schimitt


Detectives from the Fontana Police Department's Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force discovered Matthew Schmitt (33 years of age) was utilizing SnapChat to communicate with underage girls in an attempt to meet them for a sexual encounter.

On July 7, 2020, a search warrant was served at Schmitt’s residence (14600 block of Texas Court) in the City of Fontana.  During the search warrant, Detectives seized multiple electronic devices.  Evidence relating to the possession of child pornography was located. Schmitt was arrested for Sending Harmful Matter to Seduce Minors and Possession of Child Pornography. Schmitt was found to be on Probation for unrelated offenses.  Schmitt’s Probation was also violated.  Schmitt was booked at West Valley Detention Center. 

The Fontana Police Department Internet Crimes Against Children Unit (ICAC) are seeking the publics help with identifying any additional victim.  Schmitt’s screen name on SnapChat was:   Matthew Smith (m_smith6130)
