Vietnam Veterans Day

March 29 has been proclaimed "Vietnam Veterans Day" by El Dorado County. At the March 28th Board of Supervisors meeting, Interim Veterans Affairs department head William Schultz was presented the proclamation which read "We pay tribute and express our profound gratitude to the men and women who served during the Vietnam War... We shall never forget the sacrifices they made to keep this nation free." To all our veterans, we say "Thank you for your service!"

Sexual Assault Awareness Month

April has been proclaimed as "Sexual Assault Awareness Month" which is intended to draw attention to the fact that sexual violence is widespread - one in four women will have experienced sexual assault by the time they finish college. "With leadership, dedication and courage, there is compelling evidence that we can decrease sexual violence in El Dorado County by prevention education, increased awareness and holding perpetrators who commit acts of violence responsible for their actions." Supervisors Veercamp, Ranali and Heidel, along with CAO Don Ashton donned red high heels as a show of their support along with other men across our county.

Caltrans, Sheriff, Department of Transportation, and Lake Valley Fire Department along with City of South Lake Tahoe officials will be there to report on progress, along with updating our community on other issues of importance. MY GOALS:

In the year ahead, your El Dorado County Board of Supervisors will be focusing on strategic planning for capital improvements, investing in communities and balancing the budget, while improving roads and county services.

It’s been a busy 2017 already and there are many things I’d like to accomplish.

My goals for 2017 are simple:

  • Maintain an environment of respectful conversation and positive change.
  • Protect Tahoe’s fair share funding.
  • Continue to strengthen Tahoe’s voice in County affairs.
  • Bring forward housing options that are affordable to our residents.
  • Reduce traffic congestion on local roads and in neighborhoods.
  •  Improve recreation access and opportunities.
  • Protect and expand services for our most vulnerable population, including children, families, veterans and seniors.
