City Council Meeting
September 9, 2025
The next regular meeting of the City Council is Tuesday, September 9 at 6:30pm. City Council meetings are open to the public for in-person attendance. Meetings are live streamed on Zoom, but speakers are not able to provide public comment on Zoom or telephone. Public comment can be made in person or in writing by email/mail.
City Flags at Half-Staff
A Presidential proclamation has been issued stating that flags at all public buildings and grounds shall be flown at half-staff as a mark of respect for the victims of the tragedy in Minneapolis, Minnesota. City flags have been lowered to half-staff and will be raised on Tuesday, September 2.
Special Needs & Inclusion
Fall Ball Dance
On Friday, September 19, the City will be hosting its second annual Fall Ball for those with special needs and their families. This event will be held from 6pm to 9pm at the YAC, with the first hour set aside as a family dance for those 5-12 years old, and the second two hours will be for those 13 and older. Senior Program News
Line Dance - New Session Starts September 3
This class is designed for continuing line dance class students who have taken line dance but prefer a slower pace than the intermediate line dance class. All lessons will be either beginner or improver level. Knowledge of basic line dance steps will be required. This class takes place on Wednesdays, September 3 through October 15, from 10:30am to 11:30am. Instructor: Selina Chi. Registration is required. Fee: $61 Resident/ $66 Non-Resident. New! Qi Gong - Mondays
Discover a new way to boost your energy and mental clarity through gentle, meditative movements that connect breath with motion in this new class led by instructor Nanna Smith. This relaxing class is designed to improve posture, circulation, and focus—perfect for older adults looking to feel more balanced and refreshed. The activity meets on the 2nd Monday starting on September 8 from 4pm to 5pm at the Joslyn Center. Registration is required. Don’t wait; register today! Yarn Crafts with Kindness
Formerly known as Knitting with Care, this craft social group meets on Tuesdays from 2pm to 3:30pm at the Joslyn Center to work on knitting, crocheting, or any yarn-related projects that will benefit local non-profits. Projects may include blankets, scarves, hats, and gloves to benefit recipients in need. Individuals working on projects for family and friends (or themselves) are invited to join the circle as well.
Special Project for September: Twiddle Time!
Yarn Crafts with Kindness will be working on a meaningful project to support local memory care centers. In September, the group will be creating "Twiddle Muffs"—soft, sensory comfort items designed to soothe and engage individuals living with dementia. All are invited to participate in this thoughtful initiative. Join Yarn Crafts with Kindness Group at the Joslyn Center or make your own and drop it off on any Tuesday in September from 2pm to 3:30pm.
