PUBLIC SAFETY NEWS
Fire Severity Zone Map
On March 24, 2025, the Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) issued the 2025 recommended Local Responsibility Area (LRA) Fire Hazard Severity Zone (FHSZ) map for the City of Claremont, reflecting changes in fire hazards across the state. These maps classify areas into Moderate, High, or Very High fire risk based on factors such as:
- Terrain & topography
- Vegetation & fuel conditions
- Fire history & frequency
- Climate & weather patterns
These updated maps are essential for local planning and building regulations. Claremont residents and property owners are encouraged to review the updated FHSZ maps to understand their property’s designation. Properties in high severity zones are subject to brush clearance standards and additional building regulations.
