Now is the time to weigh in on the draft measures and actions for the City of Belmont's Climate Action and Adaptation Plan. The complete draft measures and actions are available to read in full. To share feedback, please email sustainability@belmont.gov.
In addition, our second community survey asks which measures and actions you'd like the City to focus resources on — and which ones you are ready to take on yourself. Start the survey here.
Thank you for your engagement in this project—together, we're building a more sustainable and resilient Belmont. For more information on the Climate Action and Adaptation Plan update, please visit the project website.
Fuel Reduction in Twin Pines Park
You might notice that Twin Pines Park feels bigger. The Belmont Creek Restoration project created more elbow room by regrading the creek banks and removing invasive eucalyptus trees. Last week, CalFire crews helped with substantial fuel reduction on the park's southwestern hillside. Ladder fuels (lower branches and brush) and dead wood were removed. This not only reduces the likelihood and intensity of fire, but also creates new forest spaces to explore. Parks staff oversaw the crews who worked over several days, even in the rain. We are grateful to CalFire for providing this valuable resource to help keep our parks and open spaces fire safe.
