 Join Us at the Superstar and Sweetheart Dances
Get ready to dance the night away at our annual Superstar and Sweetheart Dances on Friday, Feb. 13, at the Twin Pines Senior and Community Center! The Superstar Dance is from 6:30-7:30 p.m. and is exclusively for youth who would enjoy a sensory-friendly environment, along with their guardians. The Sweetheart Dance is from 7:30-9:30 p.m. for youth ages 5-12 and their guardians. Both semi-formal dances include a live DJ, photobooth, crafts, refreshments, and a visit from a Disney princess!
Belmont After-school Program
Belmont Parks and Recreation after-school programs are back and full of fun and engaging activities for students! This winter and spring, we are offering exciting classes right at select Belmont-Redwood Shores School District schools, including sports, coding, robotics, comic creation, public speaking, and drama! With programs held conveniently at your child’s school, it’s an easy way to keep kids learning, active, and having fun after the bell rings. Counties Urge Residents to Sign up for Emergency Alerts
Ahead of major events like the Super Bowl, the County of San Mateo urges residents to stay alert, recognize signs of human trafficking, and use available resources, such as opting in to local alert systems, to keep informed about weather, transit disruptions, and event-related impacts. The County is partnering with San Francisco and Santa Clara counties to support public safety during the busy weekend. San Mateo County residents are encouraged to sign up for emergency alerts by texting SUPERBOWL to 672-83 or visiting www.smcalert.info.
Volunteers Needed for 2026 One Day Homeless Count
The County of San Mateo’s Human Services Agency, in partnership with local community organizations, is seeking volunteers for the 2026 One Day Homeless Count on Thursday, Jan. 29, from approximately 5 to 10 a.m. This federally required count and survey gathers critical data to inform homelessness services, funding, and long-term planning. Volunteers must be at least 18, complete a virtual training, and have a smartphone and/or be able to drive their own vehicle. Register here.
