Old Springville Road will experience a temporary closure from Roberts Dr. to Shadow Lake Dr. on Monday, January 19, through Wednesday, January 21, due to ongoing construction activities with the new bridge. Drivers should expect to utilize the in-place detour routes and follow all posted detour signage during this period.
As part of our continued efforts to work with the community, once the roadway reopens, intermittent delays should be expected over the coming months due to periodic single-lane closures required to complete remaining critical work items, such as additional paving.
We appreciate the public’s continued patience and cooperation as we near project completion.
Environmental Services/Springville Rd Closure Springville Road at Brewster/Earline Rd will be closed for approximately 2 weeks starting January 19th for a sewer improvement project. Please follow the posted detours -- we appreciate your patience with this important work. This is 3 miles from the other closure and a completely different project.
Every once in a while we get a great story from our employees. This one is from Jonathan Gardner, WRF Superintendent in Trussville. He was giving a tour, when he noticed something in one of their oxidation ditches (not a clean place to be). At first he thought the hawk was dead, but then it started moving. With quick thinking, and long arms, the hawk was rescued -- and given the nickname Parrot! The team gave him a bath and took him to the Alabama Wildlife Center at Oak Mtn. State Park to get checked out. The staff there gave him two more baths and kept him for observation to make sure he was healthy. We received word over Christmas that Parrot was ready to be released back into his natural habitat. Click on the button below to watch his reentry!
