As part of our ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure across Jefferson County, Roads and Transportation has started another phase of paving.
Work Zone: Warrior River Road — from Vann Street to Lock 17 Road at Valley Creek.
Please travel with caution. Expect one-lane closures and delays while crews are working. Our goal is to complete this two-lane section before the Christmas holidays, ahead of potential weather limitations.
What’s Next: Resurfacing will continue in early spring on Allison Bonnet Memorial Drive, from Vann Street to Valley Road.
Hours of Operation: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Football and the Holidays are here and Jefferson County Environmental Services wants to remind you that it has 20 drop-off locations across the County to help recycle household grease! 75% of all sewer blockages are caused by fats, oils and grease (what we call FOG) being poured down sink drains. This results in costly repairs. Recycling household grease is free and easy. Just visit one of our locations and pick up a container, take it home, fill it with your household grease (wait until it cools) and then bring it back and drop it off and get another one. Please no motor oil, that can be dropped off at an oil change business.
The Jefferson County Podcast for the People sat down with the Director of Development Services Josh Johnson and Planning and Zoning Administrator Michael Morrison to get the details behind the newly approved Forward Together Comprehensive Plan and updated zoning regulations. It was a lengthy process to get here that involved multiple public engagement meetings, and meetings with all of the cities in Jefferson County. The result is a plan that is updated and provides for a more careful and considered approach to development in unincorporated Jefferson County. Take a few minutes and listen to them explain the details.
