Jefferson County Environmental Services Schedules Public Meetings On Projects

Jefferson County Environmental Services will have a series of public engagement meetings to provide overviews of upcoming sewer overflow mitigation projects. These projects will take place across the county and involve the rehabilitation of over 300,000 feet of existing sewer mains and service lines. It also includes the replacement of more than 6,000 feet of force main piping and the elimination of a pump station through the upgrading of the sewer pipe. Each meeting will start at 6 p.m. with a short presentation on the construction impacts in the area, then we will answer questions about the work.

Anyone not able to attend the meeting can review the project information at the Jefferson County Environmental Services Office during normal business hours (8 a.m. - 4 p.m.) 716 Richard Arrington, Jr. Blvd. N, Suite A-300, Birmingham, AL 35203.

Cemetery Board Contacts

There were recently some news articles about uncared for cemeteries in Jefferson County. Please know that the Jefferson County Cemetery Board was created by the state legislature and the Commission has no authority over the board, nor does it have an appointment on the board. If you have a complaint about a cemetery please call 334-261-0478. The Chairman of the Board is Korey Hameen. Other board members are Randy Matthews, Venus Smith, Hannah Thompson, Evelyn Boykin, Connie Goldsby, and Loretta Knight.

Jefferson County Senior Luncheon

The Jefferson County Senior Services Division hosts an annual holiday luncheon for seniors. This year Jefferson County Commissioners and Department Heads served the seniors during the event. Door prizes were given away and there was entertainment. A great time was had by all!
