Earth Science Week 2024 Toolkits Available

The WSGS offers 50 complimentary Toolkits to Wyoming classrooms

The 2024 Earth Science Week Toolkits are now available for Wyoming classrooms. The 50 Toolkits, provided by the American Geosciences Institute (AGI) to the Wyoming State Geological Survey (WSGS), are free for Wyoming educators on a first-come, first-served basis.

Each Toolkit contains a variety of resources to support Earth Science Week (October 13-19), which celebrates the 2024 theme, "Earth Science Everywhere." This theme highlights the broad influence of geosciences across STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) fields and the humanities. Recognizing these connections helps individuals appreciate how geoscience relates to their interests, communities, and future careers.

“The Wyoming State Geological Survey appreciates AGI’s generosity in providing complimentary Toolkits for teachers across the state,” said Dr. Erin Campbell, WSGS Director and Wyoming State Geologist. “This year’s theme, 'Earth Science Everywhere,' highlights the amazing ways geoscience impacts our daily lives. These Toolkits are packed with fun, hands-on materials that will inspire students to explore how earth science shapes the world around them.”

The Toolkits are designed for middle-school students. This year’s Toolkit includes several WSGS postcards and samples of rocks found throughout the state.
