ETS Work Summary

Week of April 25 to May 1, 2013

Work Activity Planned for Friday, April 26 through Sunday, April 28, 2013 (5:00-10:00 PM)

Branch: Service Delivery

Status: New Non-Routine, Single Agency Request

Work to be done: Migrate the Governor’s Office file server, and Homeland Security file server to SONAS.

Customer Impact: Customer’s data will be offline until the work is completed.

Duration: Work will begin on Friday, April 26th at 5:00 PM and run through Sunday, April 28th at 10:00 PM.

 Work Activity Planned for Sunday, April 28, 2013 (8:00 AM to 8:00 PM)

Status: New Single Agency Request

Work to be done: Move DCI off old switches and onto new switches.

Customer Impact: Each server may lose all network connectivity while the network cables are moved to the new switches.

Work to be done: Change z/OS TCP/IP settings to accommodate the new DNS servers ns1.wyo.gov and ns2.wyo.gov in LPAR JD21 (DEVL) and JB21 (BACKUP).

Customer Impact: There should be no customer impact.

Duration: 2 hours

 Work Activity Planned for Monday, April 29 (5:30 PM) to Tuesday, April 30, 2013 (7:00 AM)

Work to be done: Dept. of Health Server Project. Virtual server migration from Health VM infrastructure to ETS. Migrating Virtual FTP Server, Webserver (TMG), and SRV-QST01WAPP-P.

Customer Impact: The FTP site will be down during the migration of the server, and websites and web based applications will be unavailable during the move.

Duration: 13.5 hours

 Work Activity Planned for Tuesday, April 30, 2013 (4:00 AM to 6:00 AM)

 Recurring Weekly Maintenance Work Activities

 

Branch: Infrastructure

Work to be done: Installation or update of Google Applications in the Google Apps wyo.gov domain.

Customer Impact: The applications being updated will be unavailable while the update is being installed. Customer impact is minimal as these updates will be done during maintenance windows when there will be low usage of the applications.

Duration: 2 hours on each of the regular maintenance windows:

Wednesday 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM; Sunday 5:00 AM to 7:00 AM; and Tuesday 4:00 AM to 6:00 AM

Work to be done: Install patches and updates on ETS managed servers during work windows on Sunday 5:00 AM to 7:00 AM and/or Tuesday 4:00 AM to 6:00 AM.

Customer Impact: ETS managed enterprise customers will not have the services managed by these servers available during this time.

Duration: 2 hours

Work to be done: IPL (Initial Program Load) expected duration of 15 minutes or less during the Tuesday 4:00 AM to 6:00 AM work window.

Customer Impact: Affects Mainframe customers during IPL and anyone who needs Mainframe access during this time as the Mainframe will not be available.

Duration: 15-30 minutes

Work to be done: Perform WYDOT database maintenance to include: file reorders, field length changes, adding superdescriptors, renaming or renumbering files, creating a new file, adding a new field, adding descriptors, releasing descriptors, releasing superdescriptors, and restoring natural programs.

Customer Impact: This work has been arranged and scheduled by the customer, and fully coordinated with ETS Mainframe staff and WYDOT IT personnel.

Duration: This work will begin on Saturday, January 5, 2013, from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and continue every Saturday through December 28, 2013.

Work to be done: General firewall maintenance. Install patches and other system updates and perform normalized maintenance.

Customer Impact: None

Duration: This will be recurring work every Sunday 5:00 AM to 7:00 AM, Tuesday 4:00 AM to 6:00 AM, and Wednesday 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

Work to be done: Department of Health Server Migration Project.

Customer Impact: This is a single agency work request, affecting only the Dept. of Health. Users will not have access to servers being migrated during the work period(s) shown below.

Duration: Every Wednesday from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM until such time as the migrations are completed.

Work to be done: Department of Health patches and/or upgrades to WDH/ETS managed servers.

Customer Impact: This recurring work is a single agency request affecting only the Department of Health (WDH). Servers being patched and/or upgraded will not be available for use during the work periods.

Duration: Every Sunday beginning March 17, 2013, and continuing (as needed) from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM until all 200 servers have been patched and/or upgraded.

Work to be done: Change ETS network design for best practices and required compliance with the installation, replacement, removal, upgrade, or reconfiguration of network routers, switches and/or wireless equipment.

Customer Impact: Customers may experience limited to no network connectivity during the work periods.

Duration: 2 hours each Wednesday from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM, beginning April 10, 2013 and continuing through January 30, 2014.
