Is it Too Late to Use My Child's Card? No!
If your child was automatically enrolled, a card has been issued. Use the Check Enrollment Status tool to see if your child was automatically enrolled. If they are enrolled, but do not have their SUN Bucks card, please call us at 307-777-8786. Missing cards may have gone to an old address or been lost in the mail. Our call center staff are standing by to unite lost cards with their children!
When do Benefits Expire?
SUN Bucks benefits expire 121 days after they are deposited on the card. On day 122, any remaining benefits are removed from the card and cannot be used. The first and largest batch of benefits were issued on July 2, 2026; those benefits will not expire until November 1, 2026. To find out when your child’s benefits were issued:
- Call 1-877-290-9401
- Enter the card number
- After hearing the balance, press 2
- Select 4 for information on when the benefit was made available.
- Benefits expire 121 days, or about 4 months, from the date the benefit was made available.
We encourage you to use your SUN Bucks benefits early and to contact us as soon as possible about missing cards to avoid losing benefits.
What if I Have a Balance Left on My SUN Bucks Card?
Have a small balance left on your SUN Bucks card? Don’t let your benefits expire! You can use multiple payment methods, including your SUN Bucks card, in a single purchase. Use your SUN Bucks card first, then complete your purchase with another payment method. Remember to hold onto your SUN Bucks card after you use it. If the program is authorized again, benefits may be issued on the same card.

The SUN Bucks program is operating with one-time funding under Executive Order 2026-02 for summer 2026. The Department of Family Services will be evaluating lessons learned and recommendations for future summers in a report to the governor due no later than October 31, 2026. Have a comment or story to share? Please complete this short (5-10 minutes) comment form! We value comments from all perspectives - families, nonprofits, retailers, partners, etc. We are unable to respond to comments individually, but will include a summary and anonymous quotes in our Final Report to the governor.
To all our subscribers - THANK YOU for helping quickly launch this new program for summer 2026! Stay tuned as families use benefits and we evaluate lessons learned.
