Deadline to Apply is August 31
The deadline to apply for summer 2026 SUN Bucks benefits is August 31, 2026 at midnight. You can apply online at sunbucks.dfs.wyo.gov or download a paper application from our web page and submit the completed application to your local DFS office.
Most eligible school age children have been automatically enrolled in SUN Bucks through an existing National School Lunch Program free and reduced meals application, or through participation in SNAP, POWER, Kid Care CHIP, or Medicaid. Some school age children may still be eligible and need to apply. You may need to apply if:
- Your child does not participate in any of the above programs;
- You have household income below 185% of the federal poverty level (FPL); and
- During the 2025-2026 school year, your child attended a special provision school that feeds all children free meals through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP).
Cards
At this time, all cards issued in early July should have arrived. If your child is enrolled, but you have not received their card, please give us a call. Cards continue to be mailed weekly as applications are processed. Please keep your SUN Bucks card. If the program is renewed, benefits may be issued to the same card in the future.
Benefits
Reminder! Benefits expire 121 days after the card is issued. For example, benefits on cards issued in early July will expire in early November. We encourage you to use your SUN Bucks benefits soon after receiving the card to avoid losing benefits.
