SUN Bucks Cards are in the Mail
Great news! To date this week, DFS has approved more than 36,000 children for SUN Bucks statewide. Cards began mailing in early July, and will continue to be mailed weekly as more children are approved for SUN Bucks. Due to the large volume, cards were mailed in batches and may not arrive at the same time. Please allow time for cards to move through the Postal Service system. If you have not received your card by the end of July, please contact us!

Card Activation & PIN setup
Cards are in the child’s name, one per eligible child, and can only be activated with information specific to that child. The automated assistant may pick up background noise when you try to enter your information. If you have trouble with your PIN setup, try calling the PIN setup number from a quiet location.
Custody
To protect your child’s confidential information, we can only share details with the head of household listed on the application. For children automatically enrolled, this would be the parent or guardian listed by the school or on the most recent SNAP, Medicaid, or POWER case.
Eligibility Notice - Child has already been issued benefits
If you receive an eligibility notice that your child has already been issued benefits, your child was automatically enrolled and a card is in the mail. If you have not received an eligibility notice or card, please contact us, we may have an old email or mailing address on file.
Enrollment
If you are unsure if your child is already enrolled, check online at https://sunbucks.dfs.wyo.gov/. If your child is eligible but not enrolled, you can apply online at the same link.
KidCare CHIP
Eligibility for SUN Bucks is more restrictive than KidCare CHIP. Children may qualify for SUN Bucks if their household income is less than 185% of the federal poverty level, but may qualify for CHIP if their household income is higher, at 200% of the federal poverty level.
Number of payments
The SUN Bucks card in Wyoming will have a one-time benefit of $120 for the summer of 2026. This is regardless of the month that the card is received.
Preschool and Head Start Eligibility
Children must be school-aged to receive SUN Bucks. Preschoolers and Head Start students younger than kindergarten age are not eligible. Many K-12 schools offer preschool programs in the same building, but do not report those children in their state enrollment records. In a small number of cases, preschool children may be eligible for SUN Bucks because their school does report them in their state enrollment records. This varies by school.

What is SUN Bucks?
SUN Bucks is a federal program to support eligible school-aged children by providing grocery money for the summer months. Governor Mark Gordon directed the Wyoming Department of Family Services to begin program planning with an executive order on April 15.
