Public Notice: Proposed Renewal Permit for the Teton County Waste Transfer Facility

            In accordance with the provisions of the Wyoming Environmental Quality Act and Chapter 1 of
the Solid Waste Rules, Teton County has submitted a renewal permit application for the Teton County
Waste Transfer Facility.

            This facility provides for the transfer/treatment/storage of municipal solid wastes which have
been generated within Teton County. The 31.3-acre facility is located South of the town of Jackson at
5400 N. US Route 26, Jackson, Wyoming. More specifically, this facility is located in the SW 1/4 NW 1/4 of Section 27, T40N, R116W, in Teton County, Wyoming. The total transfer capacity of this facility is estimated to be 164 tons per day. The life of the facility is indefinite as a transfer station.

            The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has reviewed the application and found it to be complete. Copies of the permit application and the DEQ’s review of the application can be viewed at DEQ’s Cheyenne office at 200 W. 17th Street, Cheyenne, Wyoming 82002. Any interested person has the right to file comments on the permit application and the DEQ’s completeness review. The period for providing comments shall begin on March 15, 2023, and end on April 21, 2023. Comments must be received by 5:00 PM on the last day of the notice period. Comments on this application must be submitted in writing to the Department of Environmental Quality, Suzanne Engels, Administrator, Solid and Hazardous Waste Division, 200 W. 17th Street, Cheyenne, Wyoming 82002, or submitted using the DEQ comment portal provided at:

            DEQ is now conducting a review of the application to determine if it complies with applicable
technical standards for a facility of this type. If DEQ finds that the application complies with the
technical standards, DEQ will issue a proposed permit and provide public notice and further opportunity to comment on the proposed permit.
