Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality Notice of Proposed Underground Injection Control Permit General Permit Termination
The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (WDEQ) Underground Injection Control (UIC) Program regulates certain discharges of pollutants into groundwaters of the state. Operators of these discharges are required to receive coverage under a UIC permit. The purpose of this notification is to inform the public that the UIC Program intends to terminate General Permit 5D1-99-1: Authorization to Discharge Waste Water into a Class 5D1 Subsurface Fluid Distribution System (Agricultural Drainage Well). There are currently no 5D1 systems in use.
The public comment period begins March 1, 2023, and ends April 3, 2023. Electronic copies of the current permits are available for review.
During the 30-day public comment period, any interested person may submit written comments on the termination and may request a public hearing be held. Electronic comments may only be submitted through and accepted by the WDEQ comment portal provided at http://wq.wyomingdeq.commentinput.com/.
Requests for public hearings on permit applications or modifications must be made in writing to the administrator and shall state the reasons for the request. Requests for public hearings on permit issuance, denial, revocation, termination, or any other department action appealable to the Council, shall be made in writing to the Chairman of the Environmental Quality Council (Chairman, Wyoming Environmental Quality Council, 2300 Capitol Ave., Hathaway Bldg. 1st, Room 136, Cheyenne, WY 82002) and the WDEQ Director (Director, Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality, 200 West 17th Street, 4th Floor, Cheyenne, WY 82002) and state the grounds for the request. The Council shall hold hearings pursuant to the WDEQ Rules of Practice and Procedure.
All written comments and requests received prior to 5:00 P.M, April 3, 2023 in the Cheyenne office will be considered. Electronic comments may be submitted to the link identified above.
