Notice of Proposed Underground Injection Control Permit

The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (WDEQ) Underground Injection Control (UIC) Program regulates certain discharges of pollutants into groundwaters of the state. Operators of these discharges are required to receive coverage under a UIC permit. The purpose of this notification is to inform the public that the UIC Program is proposing the renewal of a permit (Permit 2022-107) for the Uranium Wyoming Corporation. Class I Non-Hazardous Disposal Wells Moore Ranch DW No. 1, CR DW No. 2, CR DW No. 3, and DW No. 4. The UIC program proposes to renew the injection well permit for this facility. The permit applicant is Uranium Wyoming Corp. 907 N. Poplar Street, Casper, WY, 82601. Injection well DW No. 1 is located in the SE¼ SE¼ of Section 27, Township 42 North, Range 75 West. Injection Well DW No. 2 is located in the SW ¼ SE ¼ of Section 25, Township 42 North, Range 75 West, Injection Well DW No. 3 is located in the SW ¼ NW ¼ of Section 2, Township 41 North, Range 75 West. Injection well DW No. 4 is located in the NW ¼ SE ¼ of Section 4, Township 41 North, Range 75 West of the 6th Principal Meridian, located in Campbell County, Wyoming. This facility is used for disposal of operation and bleed stream waste injection related to in-situ uranium mining operations.

The public comment period begins January 11, 2023, and ends February 10, 2023. Electronic copies of the proposed permit and relevant application materials are available for review.

During the 30-day public comment period, any interested person may submit written comments on the proposed permit and may request a public hearing be held. Electronic comments may only be submitted through and accepted by the WDEQ comment portal provided at http://wq.wyomingdeq.commentinput.com/.

Requests for public hearings on permit applications or modifications must be made in writing to the administrator and shall state the reasons for the request. Requests for public hearings on permit issuance, denial, revocation, termination, or any other department action appealable to the Council, shall be made in writing to the Chairman of the Environmental Quality Council (Chairman, Wyoming Environmental Quality Council, 2300 Capitol Ave., Hathaway Bldg. 1st, Room 136, Cheyenne, WY 82002) and the WDEQ Director (Director, Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality, 200 West 17th Street, 4th Floor, Cheyenne, WY 82002) and state the grounds for the request. The Council shall hold hearings pursuant to the WDEQ Rules of Practice and Procedure.
