Notice of Proposed Underground Injection Control Permit

The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (WDEQ) Underground Injection Control (UIC) Program regulates certain discharges of pollutants into groundwaters of the state. Operators of these discharges are required to receive coverage under a UIC permit. The purpose of this notification is to inform the public that the UIC Program is proposing the issuance of a permit modification (Permit 18-209) for the Old West Cabins septic system. This modification will reflect changes to groundwater monitoring, effluent monitoring, and reporting requirements. The permit modification applicant is Old West Cabins, PO Box 764 Teton Village, WY 83025. The Injection well is located in the W½ SW¼ of Section 27, Township 40 North, Range 116 West, of the 6th Principal Meridian, Teton County, Wyoming. This facility consists of cabins containing forty-five (45) bedrooms and homes containing five (5) bedrooms.

In accordance with Water Quality Rules, Chapter 27, Section 7(d)(iv), only those conditions to be modified shall be reopened when a new draft permit is prepared. All other aspects of the existing permit shall remain in effect for the duration of the unmodified permit and the modified permit shall expire on the date when the original permit would have expired. This notice allows for comment on Section I of the modified permit. The public comment period begins June 1, 2022, and ends July 1, 2022. During the 30-day public comment period, any interested person may submit written comments on the proposed permit and may request a public hearing be held. Electronic comments may only be submitted through and accepted by the WDEQ comment portal provided at http://wq.wyomingdeq.commentinput.com/. Requests for public hearings must be made in writing and shall indicate the name and full mailing address of the individual requesting a hearing, the interest that the individual has in the project, and the grounds for holding a public hearing.

Requests for a contested case hearing on permit issuance, denial, revocation, termination, or other final department action appealable to the Council, must be made in writing to the Chairman of the Environmental Quality Council and the WDEQ Director at the address above and state the grounds for the request pursuant to the WDEQ Rules of Practice and Procedure.
