Public Notice:

          In accordance with the provisions of the Wyoming Environmental Quality Act and Chapter 1 of the Solid Waste Rules and Regulations, the City of Sundance has submitted a renewal permit application for the Sundance Transfer Station.

          This facility provides for the storage and transfer of non-putrescible recyclables, used oil, antifreeze, tires, green waste and clean wood waste, household hazardous waste, municipal solid waste and construction and demolition waste which have been generated within the City of Sundance and surrounding rural portions of  Crook County. The ten (10) acre facility is located at the Sundance Landfill, southeast of Interstate 90 past the rest area on Industrial Park Road. More specifically, this facility is located in the SE1/4-NE1/4 of Section 18, T51N, R62W, in Crook County, Wyoming.  The total volumetric capacity of this facility is estimated to be 50 cubic yards of recyclables, 5,000 gallons of used oil, 5,000 gallons of used anti-freeze, 1,000 scrap tires, 50 cubic yards of electronic waste, 50 cubic yards cathode ray tubes, 500 lead acid batteries, 150 cubic yards of municipal solid waste in containers and 150 cubic yards of construction and demolition waste in containers. The life of the facility is indefinite.

          The Department of Environmental Quality, Solid and Hazardous Waste Division (DEQ) has determined that the permit application is generally complete and technically adequate. Therefore, DEQ issued a proposed permit for this facility. Copies of the permit application, the DEQ’s review of the application, and the proposed permit can be viewed at DEQ’s Casper office at 152 North Durbin Street, Suite 100, Casper, WY, 82601.

          Any interested person has the right to file written comments, including objections on the proposed permit. The period for providing written comments on the proposed permit shall begin on February 11, 2021 and end on March 22, 2021. Any written comments  must be received by 5:00 PM on the last day of the notice period. Comments  must be submitted in writing to the Department of Environmental Quality, Todd Parfitt, Director, 200 West 17th Street, Cheyenne, WY 82002.
