Public Notice: Informal Conference re: Brook Mine Permit Application

The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) will be holding an informal conference in response to objections and requests for an informal conference regarding Brook Mining Co., LLC’s coal mine permit application. Brook Mining Co., LLC has applied for a mining permit to operate the proposed Brook Mine, to be located approximately 8 miles Northwest of Sheridan, Wyoming.  The informal conference will begin at 9:00 a.m. (MST), May 13, 2020, to be held remotely, by video conferencing, with registration available at the following link: https://register.gotowebinar.com/register/6348409021364977168. All persons who are interested in attending the informal conference, including parties, must register in advance through the website listed above. The DEQ will consider oral and written statements provided during this informal conference before taking final action on Brook Mining Co., LLC’s application for a permit to mine. Only parties to the informal conference will be able to present oral statements. Parties to the informal conference will include: the applicant; those who submitted timely public comments on the application and requested an informal conference; and those who submitted timely public comments on the application and also notify the DEQ of their intent to participate as a party no later than Wednesday, May 6, 2020. This notice must be provided to DEQ as part of the registration for the informal conference at the website provided above. Any person who attends the informal conference, whether a party or not, will have the opportunity to present written statements during the conference. Persons who are unable to join the informal conference via GoToWebinar may contact DEQ in advance for accommodations.
