Underground Injection Control Permit

The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (WDEQ) Underground Injection Control (UIC) Program regulates certain discharges of pollutants into groundwaters of the state. Operators of these discharges are required to receive coverage under a UIC permit. The purpose of this notice is to inform the public that the UIC Program is proposing the issuance of a new permit (#18-335) for Mel’s Water Service Incorporated, Federal Hanagan 1-15 injection well. The applicant proposes to inject nonhazardous wastes including: Resource Conservation and Recovery Act oil and gas exploration and production exempt wastes, regulated underground and above ground storage tank wastes, Bevill Amendment exempt wastes, and other nonhazardous wastes defined in Section 5 of the draft permit. The permit applicant is Ms. Sandra Knigge, P.O. Box 37, Lysite, WY 52642. The facility is located in Section 15, Township 36 North, Range 91 West, of the Sixth Principal Meridian, Fremont County, WY.

The public comment period begins on June 26, 2019 and ends July 26, 2019. WDEQ has prepared a supplemental on-line public notice that is available at the WDEQ’s website (http://deq.wyoming.gov/). The website provides electronic access to a copy of the proposed permit. During the thirty (30) day public comment period, any interested person may submit in writing, comments on the draft permit and may request that a public hearing be held. Requests for a public hearing should indicate the name and full mailing address of the individual requesting a hearing, the interest that individual has in the project, and the grounds for holding a public hearing. All written comments and requests received prior to 5:00 P.M., July 26, 2019 in the Cheyenne office will be considered. Comments submitted by email will not be considered.
