Public Notice for Proposed Discharges

Purpose of Public Notice

The purpose of this notice is to invite public comments on the following proposed authorizations to discharge water from the City of Gillette, Madison Wellfield M12 Well and 30" transmission line.

One proposal (WYG740680) is from the City of Gillette to discharge through the Kanode Subdivision near the Gillette Madison Wellfield.  This is the proposal that was discussed at the Moorcroft Public meeting in September.   The second proposal (WYG740674) is an alternative that would by-pass the subdivision and take the water directly to Keyhole reservoir instead, where Highway 14 crosses South Deer Creek. Questions regarding either of the proposed authorizations may be directed to Jason Thomas (307-777-5504). The proposed authorizations and applications for discharge (Notice of Intent) are available for review at http://deq.wyoming.gov/wqd/gillette-madison-well-field-project/

Please submit any comments in writing to Jason Thomas, WDEQ - Water Quality Division, 200 West 17th Street, Cheyenne, WY 82002 or by fax (307-635-1784). The DEQ/WQD will consider all comments when making its final decision of issuance or denial of these proposed authorizations, and that decision may be appealed to the Wyoming Environmental Quality Council (EQC).

All comments must be received by November 2, 2018.
