Draft Permit – UIC # 17-054 - The UIC Program is proposing to issue permit 17-054 for South Big Horn County Hospital, owner of the South Big Horn County Ranch septic system.  This permit proposes to authorize a maximum permitted injection rate of 11,800 gallons per day (gpd) and an average permitted injection rate of 7,080 gpd.  The waste consists of primary treated domestic sewage from one (1) hospital with forty-seven (47) beds and eighty (80) employees.  Discharge will be injected into the Big Horn River alluvium via one (1) large capacity septic and leachfield system.  Groundwater within the project area is classified as Class III by quality according to Chapter 8 of the Wyoming Water Quality Rules and Regulations (WWQRR).  This classification is made because the groundwater in this formation contains Sulfate concentrations in excess of Class I and II groundwater standards in Chapter 8, Table 1 of the WWQRR and because there are no permitted domestic groundwater wells within the area of review down-gradient of the proposed facility.

The permit applicant is South Big Horn County Hospital, 388 Highway 20 South, Basin, WY 82410.  This facility is located in Section 32, Township 52 North, Range 93 West of the 6th Principal Meridian, Big Horn County.  The public is invited to comment on this draft permit until March 9, 2018.
