Water Quality Division- Beginning at 9:00 a.m., the WWAB will consider proposed revisions to Water Quality Rules and Regulations (WQRR). The Water Quality Division (WQD) will begin with a presentation concerning proposed revisions to Chapter 1, Wyoming Surface Water Quality Standards. The proposed revisions establish a process whereby WQD may grant variances to the water quality standards to specific dischargers in cases where meeting a water quality based effluent limit would result in substantial and widespread economic and social impacts. WQD will defer to the Board’s discretion concerning the recommendation of adoption to the Environmental Quality Council. Individuals with questions concerning the proposed revisions to Chapter 1 may contact Lindsay Patterson at (307) 777-7079.

Following the presentation on Chapter 1, WQD will present proposed revisions to Chapter 14, Financial Assurance Requirements. The proposed changes remove exemptions for grandfathered facilities, correct cross-reference errors, correct formatting inconsistencies, correct capitalization errors, correct grammar errors, correct paragraph numbering errors, and remove sections that are already stated in the Environmental Quality Act. At the conclusion of the presentation, WQD will request that the WWAB consider the proposed revisions and make a recommendation of adoption to the Environmental Quality Council. Individuals with questions concerning the proposed revisions to Chapter 14 may contact Rich Cripe at (307) 777-7075.

Written comments regarding the proposed revisions to Chapter 1 or Chapter 14 may be directed to Gina Thompson, DEQ/WQD, 200 W 17th Street, Suite 400, Cheyenne, Wyoming 82002 or faxed to (307) 635-1784. Electronic comments may be submitted online at http://wq.wyomingdeq.commentinput.com/
