Notice of Public Hearing

The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality – Air Quality Division will hold a public hearing on April 25, 2017 at 9:00 a.m., in the Tech Room Basement, of the Department of Environmental Quality – Sheridan Office, 2100 West 5th Street, Sheridan, WY 82801.  The Air Quality Division (Division) is soliciting public comment on the State of Wyoming’s Request for Redesignation and Limited Maintenance Plan for Attainment in the Particulate Matter (PM10) Moderate Nonattainment Area in the City of Sheridan, in Sheridan County, Wyoming.  A previous public hearing regarding the Request for Redesignation was held at the December 8, 2016 Air Quality Advisory Board meeting; revisions based on public comment received at that hearing were incorporated into the document.  Upon review and completion of a finalized draft, the Request for Redesignation will be submitted to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).  Once approved, the Request for Redesignation will involve a revision to the State of Wyoming’s State Implementation Plan.

The document supports the State of Wyoming’s request that the City of Sheridan be redesignated from nonattainment to attainment of the particulate matter (PM10) standard.  The nonattainment area (NAA) has recorded over 25 years of ambient air quality monitoring data (including five (5) years of quality assured ambient air quality monitoring data for the years 2011-2015, which represents the most recent years of quality assured data at the time of submission) demonstrating attainment with the PM10 standard.

The public is invited to attend the hearing and may comment on all matters pertaining to the Request for Redesignation.  All oral comments made during the hearing, and signed comments hand-delivered to Nancy Vehr at the hearing, will become part of the administrative record.  Written comments will also become part of the administrative record if they are signed by the commenter and submitted to Nancy Vehr, Administrator, DEQ/AQD, 200 West 17th Street, Cheyenne, Wyoming, 82002, or faxed to 307-365-1784, by the close of the hearing on April 25, 2017.  Electronic comments may only be submitted by filling out the public comment form provided at: http://aq.wyomingdeq.commentinput.com/ Electronic comments that are not submitted through the DEQ comment portal provided above will not be included in the administrative record.  Copies of the agenda, public notice, and the proposed document are available for public inspection at the Department of Environmental Quality, Air Quality Division, 200 West 17th Street, Cheyenne, Wyoming, 82002.  Electronic copies will be available after March 24, 2017, at http://deq.wyoming.gov/aqd/rule-development/resources/proposed-rules-and-regulations/.  If you have questions regarding the hearing, or to request a hard copy of any of the materials, please contact Amber Potts at 307-777-2489.
