The Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) is providing an emergency WY-ALT Training for those Test Administrators that missed the previous training. This will be the last opportunity before the WY-ALT testing window opens on March 2, 2021. Register here by Noon on Thursday, February 25.

Beginning in March, the WDE will release a monthly EL newsletter containing the latest information, resources, and updates to support EL students. The format will be similar to the Assessment Newsletter and they will be archived monthly on the EL webpage.

Earlier this week, the WDE co-hosted a webinar with MetaMetrics on the Lexile & Quantile Hub Tour. The presentation offered both a quick tour and some hands-on time to explore the new L&Q Hub. The Hub provides Lexile and Quantile tools for students, parents, and educators. The Lexile & Quantile Hub Tour Recording is now available.
The WDE will be performing Virtual WY-ALT Quality Assurance Monitoring during the 2020-21 assessment window. SPED Directors in selected districts must gather and submit necessary documentation. Email notification regarding the monitoring process and documentation submission, which will be similar to previous years, will be sent to selected districts by February 22.

Ship by March 2, 2021
All secure test materials must be returned by the deadline. Only materials shipped on or before the final return date will be processed in time for reporting. Late materials will not have a data valuation window, and will prevent you from receiving reports or data files on your state’s reporting date. Reports for late materials will not be issued until the Late Returns Report date after testing.

It is the responsibility of the District Test Coordinator (DTC) to ensure all students complete ACCESS for ELLs or ALT ACCESS for ELLs testing. In the event a student did not complete all, or any portion of the ACCESS or ALT ACCESS domain tests, the DTC must complete and submit this form to the WDE. Districts must wait until the February 26 ACCESS testing window has ended to complete the SNTF.

WIDA Professional Learning has added two new micro-offerings to the free virtual learning series titled Supporting Multilingual Learners during COVID-19. The additions include:
- Educational Equity for Multilingual Learners During COVID-19.
- Connecting Educators to Tools for Oral Language Development.
The five-part series is designed to help educators navigate some of the nuances of teaching and supporting multilingual children and youth this school year. Each 30-minute learning opportunity provides educators with tools to effectively teach multilingual learners during the pandemic. Access the courses on the Distance Teaching and Learning page.
