REMINDER: LEXILE & QUANTILE HUB WEBINAR SESSION

The Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) will co-host a series of webinars with MetaMetrics on Lexile and Quantile Scores. These sessions are designed for K-12 administrators and educators. No registration is required; use this Zoom Link for Hub Training to join

Tour of the Lexile & Quantile Hub - This presentation offers both a quick “tour” and some “hands-on time” to explore the new L&Q Hub. This Hub provides Lexile and Quantile tools for students, parents, and educators. The session will cover the following topics:

  • Accessing the Hub.
  • Creating and managing your account.
  • Support, Quick Start Guides, and Video Tutorials.
  • An overview of the individual Lexile and Quantile tools.

LINK TO QUANTILE WEBINAR SESSION ON February 9, 2021

The Wyoming Department of Education co-hosted a webinar with MetaMetrics earlier this week on Quantiles 101. This introductory session helps lay the foundation for use of Quantile measures at the classroom level. The Quantiles 101 Recording is now available.


TEST DELIVERY SYSTEM DOWNTIME

February 25-March 2, 2021

In preparation for the WY-ALT test administration, the Cambium Test Delivery System (TDS) will be down from February 25-March 2, 2021. WY-TOPP modulars will not be available during this time, please plan accordingly.

BRAILLE VERSION OF THE PERIODIC TABLE AVAILABLE

Cambium Assessment, Inc. (CAI) has an embossable Braille version of the Periodic Table for the WY-TOPP test. Educators will find it on the Wyoming Assessment Portal under General Information and FAQ,’ and can download and emboss it locally prior to student testing.

Webinar on Curricular Considerations: Introductions To Collaborating Around The WIDA ELD Standards Framework, 2020 Edition 

From Noon-1 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23, 2021

The 2020 Edition provides practical ways for all educators working with multilingual learners to conceptualize the development of content and language together through asset-based, equitable, and rigorous approaches in curricular design. This session will encourage participants to think about what collaboration looks like in these contexts.

Planning With the WIDA ELD Standards Framework Eworkshop

Two eWorkshops are being offered for educators and leaders responsible for language development within content learning and implementation of the WIDA ELD Standards. In this series participants will learn how components of the 2020 WIDA English Language Development Standards work together to support equitable access to high quality learning opportunities for multilingual learners. Participants will explore how the Standards Framework can support instructional planning and collaboration. Prior to the eWorkshop, participants will receive information about additional and optional learning activities. Online resources to support implementation will be available following the eWorkshop.

DISTRICT/SCHOOL LABELS for the ACCESS for ELLs ASSESSMENT

District/School labels must be kept by the district until the end of the testing window on February 26, 2021. Do not use another school’s District/School labels, as the incorrect information will need to be fixed during Data Validation. Your District Test Coordinator should contact Antoinette Hallam to order additional District/School labels. Before contacting the WDE, ensure all District/School Label overage has been used.

TESTING REQUIREMENT FOR ALL ENGLISH LEARNERS

English Language Proficiency Assessment (ELPA) for all English Learners (ELs)

Under ESEA section 1111(b)(2)(G), all English learners (ELs) must participate in an annual ELP assessment that is aligned with the State’s ELP standards. The ESEA requires those ELP standards be derived from the domains of speaking, listening, reading, and writing; address the different proficiency levels of ELs; and be aligned with the challenging State academic standards (ESEA 1111(b)(1)(F)). The annual ELPA requirement applies to all grades K-12 in which there are ELs in schools served by the State (34 CFR § 200.5(a)(2)). In addition, 34 CFR § 200.6(h)(5) requires that a State administers an alternate ELPA for ELs with the most significant cognitive disabilities who cannot participate in the ELPA even with appropriate accommodations.
