A Pre-Recorded Webinar

The Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) has partnered with the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services to ensure career readiness for all Wyoming students.

Students who take the ACT® WorkKeys® assessments may be eligible to receive an ACT® WorkKeys® National Career Readiness Certificate® (NCRC®) and/or qualify for a Hathaway Provisional Opportunity Scholarship.

Attendees will learn how:

  • WorkKeys can prepare students for college and career readiness as well as qualify for the Hathaway Provisional Opportunity Scholarship.
  • Using WorkKeys information can help students explore career pathways as well as ways to increase readiness.

Typically, the EL Guidebook is updated once-a-year. However, the 2020-2021 EL Guidebook needed a revision. Guidebook users should confirm that their version is current. 

Revisions include:

Pages 6-7: Active EL (English Learner) Identification Process. 

Pages 12-13: Out-of-State Transfers: WIDA State.

Orders for ACCESS For ELLs and ALT ACCESS

October 14-November 23, 2020

A materials order must be placed for ACCESS for ELLs or ALT ACCESS for both testing modes, online or paper, through DRC using WIDA AMS. Building Test Coordinators/District Test Coordinators should follow the test materials ordering procedures outlined in the WIDA Assessment Management System (WIDA AMS) User Guide. All orders must be placed by November 23 in order for schools or districts to receive materials during the shipment window. Pre-ID labels will be included in the initial materials shipment regardless of materials ordered.


  1. Log in to WIDA AMS. 
  2. Click Materials>Materials Ordering. 
  3. Choose the administration WY ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 2020-2021.
  4. Click Show Materials.

View the Ordering Materials tutorial in the WIDA ACCESS for ELLs training course. You may access the training course on the WIDA Secure Portal by logging in at the top right corner of the homepage. Once you are logged in, you can select the appropriate training course.

Using WIDA Assessments Appropriately: ACCESS for ELLs, WIDA SCreener, and WIDA Model

Starting at Noon on October 26, 2020

This session will describe the WIDA suite of English language proficiency tests: ACCESS for ELLs, WIDA Screener, and WIDA MODEL. The presenters will describe the intended uses of these assessments and how they fit within an integrated assessment system supporting English learners. Participants will learn how to use the WIDA suite of assessments in ways that are most beneficial for both students and educators. The presenters will help build awareness of which assessment to administer at the appropriate time so the test scores may be used appropriately to provide the information needed about students.

Introducing the New WIDA Screener for Kindergarten

Starting at Noon on October 28, 2020 

This session will introduce the new WIDA Screener for Kindergarten, WIDA’s replacement for the K W-APT screener. The presenters will explain the design and content of the new test and participants will learn about key features of the new WIDA Screener for Kindergarten, including the item and task types across the four language domains. In addition, the presenters will explain how to train to administer and score WIDA Screener for Kindergarten. Finally, participants will gain an understanding of the various materials and resources that will be provided by WIDA to support consortium rollout of this new assessment.

WIDA MODEL: Learn More About Your Students’ English Language Skills 

Starting at noon on October 30, 2020 

This session will explain the intended uses of WIDA MODEL, a flexible and effective way to learn more about your students’ English language skills. In 2020, WIDA released an updated online version of WIDA MODEL. The presenters will explain how this new version has been enhanced, along with describing how WIDA MODEL is connected to other WIDA assessments. Participants will gain a better understanding of how WIDA MODEL can be used to support educators and students in their own local contexts.Download the eSummit flyer.

This eWorkshop is designed to support mathematics educators and language specialists who have a responsibility to share their learning with colleagues through collaboration or coaching. Participants will explore the importance of equitable engagement in math conversations for multilingual learners in a three-part webinar series. By engaging in this eWorkshop, participants will build their skills in:

  • Recognizing characteristics of equitable classroom spaces where multilingual learners engage in deep mathematical discourse.
  • Structuring supports and scaffolding that build students’ repertoires for communicating their math questions and ideas.
  • Deciding when to guide students toward more precise mathematical language.

All materials and the webinar platform will be housed in the WIDA eLearning Center, which can be accessed by participants with a WIDA Secure Portal login. Participants are required to do pre-webinar work that began October 19, 2020, and it must be completed before the two above webinar dates.
